Increased class sizes, more than 30 layoffs and the closure of Tappan Hill Elementary School are proposed in the 2010-11 Public Schools of the Tarrytowns $63.4 million budget.
If the current spending plan is approved by voters May 18, property taxes in Tarrytown would inch up a mere 0.10%, but Sleepy Hollow property owners would experience a 6.6% tax hike. The tax percentages differ because of changes in equalization rates and total assessed valuation as determined by the Town of Greenburgh and the Town of Mount Pleasant. more

Нет, дело не только в том, что школа закрывается
Date: 2010-04-08 04:11 am (UTC)Dear Kindergarten parents,
Tappan Hill Volunteering isn't totally done yet - we are in the midst of the Square One art project which Jackie Fr. is chairing, and some of you are helping out on. The ziti dinner was a huge success thanks to an incredible organizing committee led by Andrea G. and Amy P., not only raising a lot of money, but also boasting huge attendance. Amy K. yet again once again ran a perfectly organized and very successful book fair. And they were well supported by a huge cast of bakers, donaters, crafters, and other volunteers.
I'm writing, though, because by now, you should have received a flier about volunteering for EPTA next year. Allie B. and I were the erstwhile VPs for Tappan Hill this year but won't be able to take on the role next year. It is a fantastic way to really get to know the rest of the people who make the schools run so well. And next year, with transitions to new buildings and new principals, there will be a great opportunity to really support our fantastic schools. Right now, Jacki G. is leading the effort to identify VPs for next year's first grade (as well as for pre-k). If you might be interested or if you know someone else who would be, please get in touch with Jacki. If you have questions about what the role involves, Allie and I are glad to speak with you to.
Again, thanks so much for your involvement this year at Tappan Hill.
