Скорее потому что кошки ее юности не ходили в туалет в избе дома, и их продукты жизнедеятельности не наблюдались хозяевами.
Про генетику кошек я ничего сказать не могу, сейчас немного поискала - похоже, что тема довольно недоизученная.
